Ever since The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake was finally revealed, one of the biggest questions has been exactly when weโd be able to get our hands on it.
Well, Nintendo has finally given us the answer, confirming during its Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct that The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time launches on November 5, 2026, exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2.
Ocarina of Time remake arrives just before GTA 6
Interestingly, there had been plenty of chatter suggesting Nintendo could throw Ocarina of Time directly into the firing line against GTA 6, especially with both games seemingly destined for November.
Thankfully that isnโt quite the case. Rockstarโs GTA 6 launches on November 19, meaning Ocarina of Time gets a two-week head start before what will pretty much be one of the biggest game releases weโve ever seen.
We finally got a proper look at gameplay from the remake and, wow, this is certainly no simple coat of HD paint.

Hyrule has been massively revamped, with far more detailed environments, character models, lighting, and scenery bringing areas such as Kokiri Forest and the Great Deku Tree into the modern era while still retaining the feel of the N64 classic.
Nintendo has also reworked how the game actually controls. Thereโs now free camera movement, Link can jump at the press of a button, and a new โThreads of Timeโ system will help point you towards where, and even when, you need to head next, giving you a more ‘mission’ style system that wasn’t there before.
Ocarina of Time is one of the greatest games ever made; there’s absolutely no doubt in that, so rebuilding it without losing what made the original special was always going to be a pretty tall order.
Based on what was shown in the Direct, I have really high hopes, as it looks like there has been a crazy amount of effort put into every aspect.
