GoRetroid has been on a tear in recent times, almost following the path of AYANEO in releasing handheld consoles inspired by the Nintendo greats.
We’ve seen the Retroid Pocket 5, available in GameCube-like hues, the Retroid Pocket Flip 2, giving us a DS/SP vibes, and now we have the newly announced Retroid Pocket Classic.
This handheld breaks the mold of the usual landscape design GoRetroid is known for and instead looks to bring a more Game Boy-like feel with a portrait aesthetic, akin to the Analogue Pocket.
While details are few and far between as of now, the official social media account for the company has posted a teaser of the Pocket Classic in seven different colorways that really get the nostalgic juices flowing.
Looking closer at these hues, you can tell right away that GoRetroid is aiming for those 1998 feels with recreations of Atomic Purple, Lime Green, Teal, and Berry, as well as throwing a nod to the Pokemon Special Edition from the year 2000.

There’s also a couple of DMG-esque designs for you oldies out there too, taking things back to the real beginning.
The layout of inputs in also similar to that of the original handhelds but with the addition of two extra buttons to complete ABXY, and a different Start Select layout.
There’s an additional button just below the screen, which is likely a brightness adjuster, but that is not yet confirmed.
As for when we’ll see more information released by GoRetroid on the Pocket Classic, if previous teases are anything to go by, we expect at least 3D render videos of the units to be out in the wild within a week, and specs to follow after.
When we do get any additional info on the Retroid Pocket Classic, we’ll be sure to share so you can get prepped for your inevitable pre-order.
