Crash Bash might not get quite as much love as the mainline Crash Bandicoot games, but if you grew up in the PS1 era, there’s a good chance you spent a ridiculous number of your evenings pogoing as Dingodile.
Now, more than 25 years later, you can recreate that nostalgic chaos online without even downloading anything.
A new fan-made Crash Bash Online project has brought the PS1 party game directly into your browser, complete with functioning multiplayer rooms for up to four players.
Crash Bash finally gets online multiplayer
If you’re interested in testing your Crash Bash skills, all you have to do is head over to crashbash.app, and you can jump straight into a match using either keyboard controls or pretty much any modern controller.
You can play solo against CPU opponents, open a public lobby, or create a private room for between two and four real players and simply send your friends the room code. Any empty slots can then be filled by CPU characters, meaning you don’t necessarily need to wrangle the squad every time, which is nice.
That’s way easier than the original setup, where playing a full multiplayer lobby involved you needing to own a PlayStation Multitap, getting four controllers together and, most importantly, having four people in the same room.

The original game had 29 battle arenas spread across seven different minigame families. The Crash Bash Online, in its current state, however, only has 12 arenas playable, with more still in development.
That includes familiar games built around Crate Crush, Polar Push, Pogo Pandemonium, and Ballistix, with the likes of Jungle Bash, Space Bash, Polar Panic, Pogo Painter, and Crashball among those already recreated.
Everything currently available is free to play, although an optional Arena Pass is planned for later that will gate some hosting features and arenas while keeping a selection free.
Honestly, Crash Bash with online multiplayer feels like something we should have had years ago, so it’s pretty cool we have this unofficial fan-made creation to get things going now.
